Sometimes you have a chance encounter that irrevocably changes the path of your life; a moment that you’ll forever wonder what would have happened if you had just gone back that night– and the story behind Millicent & Gerryme’s incredibly sweet Gliderport engagement session begins with one of those nights.
Despite living in the Bay area for most of her life, Millicent was deciding whether to move to San Diego after one by one her family moved down south to the San Diego area. As she thought about her decision, little did she know she’d meet someone who would make the decision feel oh-so-right.
Walking into the bar that night to celebrate one of her friend’s birthdays, Millicent immediately noticed Gerryme, his laughter ringing throughout the bar and the way that he seemed to radiate confidence. Walking by Gerryme, she had no idea that the “loud and slightly pretentious” man (as she jokes) lived in San Diego and would soon strike up a conversation with her, or that it would be him that would solidify her decision to move.
Yet when HE saw Millicent? He knew right away that he had to walk up and introduce himself to the beautiful woman that he saw walk in the door.
As they talked, the way that they made one another laugh and the things they had in common shone through– the way their conversation was effortless, the spark between them clear to both them and those around them. So when Gerryme left without getting Millicent’s phone number? It only took a few blocks before he ran back, knowing that he would forever regret not taking the chance to get to know the effervescent, witty woman that he had just met.
After that night, it was as if something had clicked. Day long hang outs turned into seeing one another every other day turned to seeing each other every day, and beginning their relationship. They met one another’s families, and Millicent was introduced to Gerryme’s son, who she adored immediately. Years passed by as they formed their own family, traditions, and more. They celebrated birthdays with restaurant serenades (which Gerryme loved and Millicent dreaded), holidays, and anniversaries– yet all along? Gerryme knew that he had found the woman he wanted to marry.
It was one of those many family dinners where Gerryme finally proposed. The dinner coming to a close, a waiter came out carrying a one last plate, placed in front of Millicent. When Millicent looked down, a beautiful ring was on the plate, and to her side? Gerryme on one knee, waiting for her to say yes.
It was sunset when we met with Millicent & Gerryme for their beautiful Gliderport engagement session. As we walked with them along the cliffs, the chemistry between them was clear. Alternating between dipping & kissing to get the perfect photo and then posing and teasing one another, Millicent and Gerryme let go and let themselves truly enjoy the time that they got to spend with one another. The lightness and joy that they radiated was infectious– and the jokes they made had us working hard to keep our camera still as we laughed.
