When we first heard about The Zeller Family, their story absolutely broke our hearts. We are thrilled to share some of our many favorites from our time with this incredible family! But as you look through these images, and you see Reid and Misty and their adorable little ones laughing and playing at Sunset Cliffs, you need to know more of what they have been through on their way back to the sunshine.
This beautiful, loving family grieved some of the greatest losses we can imagine. Last year, they mourned the loss of their baby at 37 weeks old. Misty’s fourth and last child was born into the world absolutely perfect, but without a heartbeat. Sharing their pain and their path to healing on their blog, the Zellers are one of the most inspiring families we’ve been blessed to photograph.
After the loss of their baby boy, Charlie, they endured two more miscarriages, and Misty became very, very sick. She would faint, cough, and collapse, and they had no answers. They went through test after test, and only got more sick. With no answers and no explanations for weeks, they eventually found the answer: toxic stachybotrys black mold was growing in their home.
Immediately, they were forced to abandon their house and all their belongings. Everything. Their home was poisoning them, and everything had to be left behind and destroyed. Every book, every love letter, every heirloom, every photograph. In a single day, they had to give up every worldly possession they had kept in the home they’d filled with love and laughter.
The Zeller Family’s ongoing struggle is so challenging, and their story is full of heartbreaking pain, and beautiful bravery. We’re so excited to share these images of this incredible, inspiring family!
